How to play Hearts

A candlelit masquerade. Pass three cards each hand, dodge the hearts, and watch out for the Queen of Spades. Take fewer points than anyone else at the table before someone crosses 100.

  1. Lowest Score Wins

    You sit at the bottom against three independent players - Rosa, Mabel, and Theo - and every seat scores for itself. When any one player crosses 100, whoever holds the fewest points wins the match.

  2. Pass Before You Play

    Each hand you pick three cards to pass - left on hand 1, right on 2, across on 3, hold on 4. Ship your most dangerous cards: high spades, high hearts, and the Queen of Spades.

  3. Avoid the Pointed Cards

    The player with the 2♣ leads first and must lead it. Follow suit if you can; the highest card of the led suit takes the trick. Hearts can't be led until one's been broken - discarded off-suit. The first trick allows no hearts and no Queen of Spades.

  4. Or Take Them All

    Hearts are 1 point each; the Queen of Spades is 13. Sweep every heart AND the Queen in one hand to "shoot the moon" - you take 0, everyone else takes 26.

Four difficulty levels

Every level keeps its own streak, best and high score, so climbing costs you nothing.

Easy
The other three play casually and let half their plays drift. The Queen of Spades may come your way, but rarely with a plan.
Medium
The table counts points before passing and ducks the Queen. A balanced, honest game of Hearts.
Hard
Tight passing - high spades and hearts arrive at your seat with intent. The others void suits early to drop the Queen on you mid-hand.
Very Hard
The table passes surgically, holds high spades to land the Queen on you late, and will quietly shoot the moon if you give it the chance.

How Teams differs
  1. Partners in Disguise You sit at the bottom. Your partner sits across; Rosa and Theo are the opposing team. Scoring is per-player, but the match ends in favor of the team whose two seats hold the lower combined score.
  2. Pass Before You Play Each hand you pick three cards to pass - left on hand 1, right on 2, across on 3, hold on 4. Save high spades and high hearts for the opponents; never hand the Queen of Spades to your partner.

Hearts plays completely offline

Every round of Hearts is generated, played and saved on your own device. There is no account, no sync and no server to reach, so it works the same on a plane, in a tunnel or with the phone in airplane mode.

Does Hearts work without internet?

Yes. Hearts generates every round on your device and saves your progress there too, so it plays exactly the same on a plane, on the underground or with the phone in airplane mode. Nothing in Just One More needs a connection.

How hard does Hearts get?

There are four levels. Easy is "The other three play casually and let half their plays drift. The Queen of Spades may come your way, but rarely with a plan." Very Hard is "The table passes surgically, holds high spades to land the Queen on you late, and will quietly shoot the moon if you give it the chance." Your streak, best and high score are tracked separately for each level, so moving up never costs you what you earned lower down.

Are there other ways to play Hearts?

Yes. One more game shares the Hearts board, changing the rules rather than the look: Teams (Partner up - you and the seat across the table share the win). Each keeps its own difficulty ladder and its own best score.
