How to play Freecell

Cool water, open shade, four free cells. Every card face-up. Find the right order and float them home.

  1. Build Down, Alternate Colors

    Stack cards on the tableau in descending rank with alternating colors. A black 7 takes a red 6, and so on.

  2. Free Cells Are Parking

    The free cells at the top hold one card each (count varies by difficulty). Park cards there to dig deeper into the columns, then play them back when you can.

  3. Foundations: Ace to King

    Float each suit home to its foundation pile, starting with the Ace and building up to the King. Tap a card to auto-send it when it's eligible.

  4. Every Card Is Visible

    There are no hidden cards in Freecell. Almost every deal is solvable with patience. Plan a few moves ahead before committing.

Every level keeps its own streak, best and high score, so climbing costs you nothing.

Easy
Five free cells. Lots of room to shuffle cards around.
Medium
Four free cells. The classic Freecell.
Hard
Three free cells. Tight working space.
Very Hard
Just two free cells. Every parking spot is precious.

Build down by suit

How Baker's Game differs
  1. Build Down by Suit Tableau columns build down in the SAME suit instead of alternating colors. A 7 of spades only takes a 6 of spades.
  2. Chains Are Rare Long alt-color sequences are impossible. Most tableau-to-tableau moves run through the free cells, so every cell becomes precious.
  3. Free Cells Are Parking Same free cells as classic, one card each. They're not optional helpers in Baker's, they're the only way to maneuver.
  4. Foundations: Ace to King Send each suit home to its foundation, Ace up to King. Tap a card to auto-send when eligible.

Freecell plays completely offline

Every round of Freecell is generated, played and saved on your own device. There is no account, no sync and no server to reach, so it works the same on a plane, in a tunnel or with the phone in airplane mode.

Does Freecell work without internet?

Yes. Freecell generates every round on your device and saves your progress there too, so it plays exactly the same on a plane, on the underground or with the phone in airplane mode. Nothing in Just One More needs a connection.

How hard does Freecell get?

There are four levels. Easy is "Five free cells. Lots of room to shuffle cards around." Very Hard is "Just two free cells. Every parking spot is precious." Your streak, best and high score are tracked separately for each level, so moving up never costs you what you earned lower down.

Are there other ways to play Freecell?

Yes. One more game shares the Freecell board, changing the rules rather than the look: Baker's Game (Build down by suit). Each keeps its own difficulty ladder and its own best score.
