How to play Checkers

Standard 8×8 checkers on a maple-and-cream board. Crown your pieces, force the captures, and out-think the bot, or a friend across the table.

Move Diagonally Forward

Tap one of your pieces to select it, then tap a dark square diagonally in front of it. Pieces only move forward until they're crowned.
Jump to Capture

If an opponent piece sits diagonally in front and the next square beyond is empty, you must jump it. Multiple jumps in a single turn are allowed and required.
Reach the Far Side, Get Crowned

A piece that lands on the opponent's back row is crowned a king. Kings move and capture diagonally in any direction.
Win by Capturing All

Take every opponent piece, or leave them with no legal moves, and the round is yours. Pick the bot or a friend across the table on the splash screen.

Four difficulty levels

Every level keeps its own streak, best and high score, so climbing costs you nothing.

Easy: The bot plays casually. Random among legal moves.
Medium: The bot looks two moves ahead. Watches the kings.
Hard: The bot plans four moves deep. Closes lines.
Very Hard: The bot reads six moves out and rarely blunders.

How Anti-Checkers differs

Lose All to Win Goal flips: be the first to lose every piece. Same board, same pieces, completely different reflexes.
Captures Are Now Traps Mandatory captures still apply, but every capture means the OPPONENT loses material, exactly what they want. Force them to take from you.
Kings Are Liabilities Promoting becomes risky. Kings are harder to lose, and uncapturable pieces stay on the board. Avoid eager promotions.
Empty Board or Stalemate Win when you have no pieces left, or when you have no legal moves and pieces remaining. Pick the bot or pass-and-play on the splash.

Checkers plays completely offline

Every round of Checkers is generated, played and saved on your own device. There is no account, no sync and no server to reach, so it works the same on a plane, in a tunnel or with the phone in airplane mode.

Does Checkers work without internet?

Yes. Checkers generates every round on your device and saves your progress there too, so it plays exactly the same on a plane, on the underground or with the phone in airplane mode. Nothing in Just One More needs a connection.

How hard does Checkers get?

There are four levels. Easy is "The bot plays casually. Random among legal moves." Very Hard is "The bot reads six moves out and rarely blunders." Your streak, best and high score are tracked separately for each level, so moving up never costs you what you earned lower down.

Are there other ways to play Checkers?

Yes. One more game shares the Checkers board, changing the rules rather than the look: Anti-Checkers (Lose all to win). Each keeps its own difficulty ladder and its own best score.

Can two people play Checkers on one phone?

Yes. Checkers offers pass-and-play alongside the bot, so two people can share one device and alternate turns. Personal stat chips are hidden in that mode, because a shared board is nobody's streak.
